Link... Defying textbook science, study finds new role for proteinsPincho says... I see nature as a set of fractals created from an origin of gravity, and gravity spaces. When gravity gets trapped it creates its own escape route by folding inwards. In such a situation randomness, and chaos reorganize the holes required to escape, and the fractal is rebuilt from the new holes. In a sponge we have random holes but a sponge is still a sponge no matter how it is built. Snowflakes in my theory obey the rules of holes plus a spherical stacking system, so now you get holes that are more organized. The organisation is due to Newton's Kissing Number problem, and that same sized sphere will only fit together in certain shapes. So proteins although apparently working randomly can be creating cause, and effect that obeys certain rules in the background.
