Scooter in England covers multiple vehicles. There is the motor scooter which is like a motorbike, and the push along scooter which children use, and the disability scooter which is like a electronic shopping cart. But over that time period the push along scooter that children use was turned into a motorised scooter, and the disability scooter was more widely used too. So you had old push along vehicles becoming new vehicles and adding to the term 'scooter'. Now if you named the disability scooter a car instead you would have accidents added to the car list, and taken from the scooter list. So basically what I am saying is that we need new terms for our vehicles that can tell us which vehicles we are talking about. Pincho Paxton
