OK so I have thought about this, and it's not 100% clear, but I came up with something...
Mental behaviour can become a repeating cycle in the mind, and physics outside of our bodies are also in a cycle, like the weather for example. A walk in the countryside produces a map, for some people this map will be larger than others, and the map is also a cycle. So physical activity just enlarges the cycle so that it takes longer to revolve back to the beginning again, and for a lot of disorders that is good. Instead of repeating a negative thought every minute, the activity cycle is added to an invisible circumference of a thought loop.
There may be other factors, but I think I have found 1 factor.
