If you take a look at lightning you will see a whole bunch of parallel lines which are disproportionate to chance, so they have to do with physics. I believe that the physics arise from a quantized stacking system in the air. Air however has hidden physics also, and so you can find out other reasons for the parallel lines, and you can place electrons in quantized locations, propagating lines between them like join the dots. You can break this down further to rotate electrons as torus, and join the torus holes together, then wrap the torus inside sphere, and stack the sphere to get parallel propagation. You can then say that the air has a resolution like a TV screen that is limited by this stacking system, and lightning is produced using this limited resolution.
