The word 'aliens' has become synonymous with UFO's, greys, abductions, and the death of the human race. If you simply change the word from aliens to another word like 'humalons' it dampens the story...

The change in wording gives your brain a refresh, and in that way you get a neutral feedback which is hopefully closer to the neutral reality of life elsewhere. It can be that aliens are good, or bad which is neutral. Humalons is neutral.
