I have enjoyed computer games since Pong came out in 1972, but I have never really noticed any improvement in my dexterity due to playing any computer games... until now.
This Christmas I bought myself an XBox One 'S', and going through the available games I decided to buy Rocket League. Rocket League is a football game played with Cars instead of people. It is a very unusual situation to be faced with that the cars with limited turning abilities have to be focused towards a giant football... let alone then to be able to back flip, and kick the ball from behind you... Surprisingly, you do learn how to do that!
Having played in the arenas for a few days, and many hours I have found that the transition from a very difficult environment back into real life makes real life dexterity much simpler. When things fall off shelves you instantly catch them, I am typing on my computer more easily, I hold things, and twist them differently, and more purposely. My brain appears to have an improved 3D awareness that it didn't have before. I am not kidding, or delusional... it is real.
The transition will probably take you about 3 days the same as me, but it is worth the effort just to be a bit better at handling objects, and your 3D environment.
