Link... People are claiming Die Hard is a Christmas film and it’s tearing the internet apartOur brains have root memories, and the roots lead towards our understanding of everything around us. Déjà vu is for the roots of one memory to lead towards a recognition of a similar event, but not exactly the same event. So when you have a root memory it is strong enough to lead towards a false memory if the new situation is close enough. Die Hard starts with Christmas music which then becomes attached to a root memory of Christmas. The argument however is whether the movie has a Christmas feel to it, and that is all down to your own personal feeling of Déjà vu inspired emotions. Some people do not have all fond memories of Christmas, some people have dark patches in their Christmas memories, and if you have dark patches in your Christmas memories then Die Hard will fit like a jigsaw into your root memories. I had an eating disorder when I was young, and at Christmas I would be made to eat my Christmas dinner, and that always gave Christmas some fearful moments for me. My father would be arguing about it every Christmas, so Christmas was a bit dark for me. Therefore Die Hard is a Christmas film in my head... that is my Déjà vu experience. What is your Déjà vu feeling towards Christmas? Pincho Paxton
