Based on simulation theory we are living in a simulation. The current date in the simulation is 2020, but what is the true date outside the simulation?
The theory goes, eventually we create Ai, and realistic simulators, and we end up living inside those simulator. We live on Earth when Pong was around in 1973-1974.
The true date will be much higher than 2020, because we have already created Ai, and already created realistic simulations. But how can you work out the true date?
You can use statistics to get the best guess at the real date!
Using statistics we can use some of the information found on Earth which we will treat as a history lesson. If Earth is a history lesson then the sun has 5 Billion years left before it dies. Therefore we exist from this point 2020 to 5 billion.
We can say that Ai, and realistic simulators will not be around till 2100... it doesn't make much difference. There are 9 zeros in a billion, it is a 10 digit number. If you are to pick a random number between 2100, and 5 billion you are most likely to get 10 digits!
With all of those 10 digit numbers the current date statistically is more likely to have 10 digits. If you were to guess the current date to win a prize you should therefore pick a number with 10 digits.
The true date therefore could have 10 digits.
The most interesting thing about this idea is actually that 2020 is such an unlikely date.
