Link... Shining a light on disordered and fractal systemsPincho says... Mathematicians love to confuse everyone with their findings! Part of their fondness of maths is their psychedelic-like fantasy explanations. If they could see nature in its reality they may stop enjoying maths. What is a dimension? A dimension is a hole with a flow direction... In, Out, X/Y/Z In = Towards the centre of the hole. Out = Towards the edges of the hole. X = Spin around the hole and rock X Y = Spin around the hole, and rock Y Z = Up from the centre, and down from the centre where 'In' takes you to another hole. You can get 6 holes with spin around the central Axis. So what is 1.5 Fractal Dimension? It first came about when people were measuring the landscape with sticks, and the length of a stick changed the shape of the landscape when plotted out on a map... ... that would be a fractal resolution! The resolution being the scale of the hole, and the length of the Z axis as a tube length... in real physics. So Fractal Dimension is bad English, and should be renamed Fractal Resolution.
