Link... Twin discoveries, 'eerie' effect may lead to manufacturing advancesPincho says... I wanted to understand the physics so I did a little bit of observation myself. First I wanted to find a material that I have physics for in my own memories so that I could correlate the physics. After a bit of looking around I found toffee... ToffeeI have sliced through toffee, so I have extra information on it, I have also cut metal. I remember that surfaces of atoms act more like liquids. So I combined all of my information together. Instead of folding of metal I picture valleying/grooving of metal, and so the valley travels along by separating bonding. Then the ink works as a valley preventer, which is a much better description, and picture. So once honey was mentioned toffee became logical, and it was easy to see valleys in toffee not proper creasing, and valleys have different physics to creasing, so ink makes more sense with valleying.
