The Earth is not a fair playground for science, as you have gravity in the Y axis moving down, and that isn't a typical Y axis for it has been widened. The LHC has to be restricted by gravity in the Y axis, nobody has altered gravity so that it ignores the Earth, so the area of least resistance for physics could be a bit odd on the Earth. Physics propagate into the area of least resistance, and that will create patterns that obey rules. We have motorways with several lanes of traffic, if cars head towards each other the roads are useless. Physics are generally polarized so that propagation works In/Out. It's not the same as symmetry, but can be averaged throughout the Universe as symmetry. Pincho Paxton
