Link... When queuing in a supermarket, who do you let go first?Pincho says... I think I have an advantage when it comes to this sort of psychology, because I am the end result, I am the finished product, so from my point of view I am just remembering where it came from. I was 1 type of person that for some reason changed into a different type of person. Anyway... ...The advantage to helping people is that you are teaching people at the same time. You are hoping for a chain reaction that will come back to yourself. Now some people will say "I did a good thing, and didn't care about someone doing the same thing for me." But what you are also hoping for is that the opposite doesn't happen to you... someone jumps in front of you. So even if you are doing this unselfishly, even a neutral effect is still an advantage... I helped someone, didn't want anything in return, but someone then jumped in front of me with quite a few items. You see the difference between Neutral, and a bad result? Neutral is still good.
