Deja vu is to be reminded of an old memory that has similarities to your current situation... You feel like you have been there before, or seen something before.
Dreams take advantage of that, and mix together old memories, which now feel more emotional, and realistic. Dreams can also change the memory/time value so that the dream appears to be happening in the past. By combining a new dream with an old memory, and editing the time stamp you can create a realistic memory based on now.
Here is an example...
I had a dream that I met a woman where I live now, and she said "Do you remember me? I used to be your job adviser when you lived in London." Then I had a flashback to a grey office where I used to visit this woman, so I said "Yes I remember."
The grey office was made into a memory with a time stamp about 5 years earlier, and the time stamp still works now when I recollect the dream. I remember the office from 5 years ago in another dream based on a fantasy past. The grey office has a strong deja vu emotion attached to it.
So in a dream you can have a memory implanted into a dream's past, and you feel the deja vu of that memory.
