Before Dinosaur... before Fish... there were worms! The Worms evolved into everything on Earth today, because to have legs, or fins requires gravity as a pressure like squeezing toothpaste out of a tube. That gravity pressure is most likely to happen when the worms left the sea millions of years before fish existed.
Fish leaving the sea, and growing legs is wrong! Worms grew simple legs, and flippers, and fins, and frills. The changes in worms was to do with gravity, and their ability to regenerate body parts. The regeneration process on land turned into a mutation process which included simple legs... and then hands, and feet... and fins.
The fish arrived when the mutating worms went back into the water, and like spacemen the reduction in physics in water regenerated the possibility of legs, and fins/flippers became the better option. Even a whale is based on this land to sea change, and that is where the giant worms come into the picture.
There is a high possibility of very large worms existing when animals first started appearing on Earth, because worms were in abundance, and scale did not matter for their survival. Fossils of worms are often in tightly packed bunches, they really were very abundant.
So where are the giant worms?
When you find them I can link to this article.
